Space Architect Constance Adams was a renegade in her field, solving complex problems in entirely new ways, always beginning with the question:
What do humans truly need?
As a Space Architect contracted to design Mars habitats for NASA, her unorthodox solutions were often transformative. Diagnosed with terminal cancer, she's inspired to write The Mothership Project: A Blueprint for Climate Adaptation, using concepts she learned at NASA to help us adapt to climate change here on Earth. Using human-centered design, she envisions a world of hope for her children - and all of us.
(TRT 40 min)
#TheMothershipProject is a multifaceted initiative that offers three distinct opportunities for climate action. High school and college students will collaborate in teams, using NASA’s Tiger Team methods to tackle real-world problems through hands-on, interdisciplinary coursework that sharpens critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This unique approach prepares them for future academic and professional challenges, while fostering teamwork, creativity, and innovation.
At the same time, #TheMothershipProject hosts a social media contest centered around Constance Adams’ climate action document, inviting both everyday people and scientists to engage in meaningful dialogue and action. Participants will be encouraged to share insights, debate ideas, and contribute solutions via interactive posts, live chats, and crowdsourced collaborations. The contest creates a vibrant space where diverse voices unite to make scientific problem-solving accessible and engaging for all.
